It was all I listened to the ENTIRE trip. Before we left, I downloaded WAP to my barely functional broke college kid phone. A few months before the trip, the stars aligned and we were both finally single at the same time and became a couple. When I was single, he had a girlfriend & when he was single, I had a boyfriend. One of these friends was someone that I had had feelings for & chemistry with for a long time, but the timing had never been right. I was 19 and planned a trip with two of my best friends to go and visit him over spring break. In 2009 one of my close high school friends moved to San Francisco for college. I wish I could thank the 4 of them personally for what they’ve created. I can definitely say without a doubt that their music changed my life, and will always stick with me until the day I die. Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is likely my favorite album of all time, I can listen to it for the rest of my life and never get tired of it, and I could listen to Phoenix the rest of my life and never get tired of it.
And I also went with the person who got me into them more, my girlfriend, and we even got to see Thomas before the show as he came outside to greet the fans, literally as soon as we arrived to the line. After it had been years since their last album, and they actually came down to Florida to perform. It’s fitting that my very first concert I had ever been to, was Phoenix. Phoenix was the very first band I immersed myself into, listening to their entire discography and loved every single one of them. So due to this, I spent my time just listening to 1901 on repeat for a long time, up until high school where my girlfriend encouraged me to truly explore some of my favorite artists, and it completely changed the music I listen to now. But for whatever reason, throughout my entire childhood, I would very rarely listen to any other songs of a certain artist other than their most popular songs, or the songs I already knew of them.
1901 was one of the songs on it and I made sure to have that song always playing because I loved it so much. I had originally found them through a video game soundtrack, NBA 2K13.
